In recent years, many Chinese participated the EB5 Investors' Immigration Program. The investment requirements are from US$500,000 to US$1 million. EB5 programs are usually in the form of an investment fund, managed by a private local company, approved by the US Federal Government. The size of the fund can be US$50 million to US$200 million. Most of these funds are investing into the local real estate projects.
The investor's money needs to remain in the fund for 5 years. At the end of the 5th year, investor gets his principle and interests back. The investor and his family can get a temporary Green Card. After 2 years, the investor can get an official permanent Green Card. The whole family can come to US and enjoy the benefits of Green Card.
There are over 20 EB5 management companies in the US. Some are private equity fund type, raising $1 million from each applicant. Some are funds supervised by SEC, requiring $500,000 from each applicant, if the fund is used for the distressed region in the US.
